About Local 2509
Local 2509 is the exclusive representative of all non-supervisory Border Patrol agents and support staff within the Big Bend Border Patrol Sector. Local 2509 is an affiliate of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC).
We represent our members for bargaining issues, disciplinary and adverse actions, legislative matters, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), workers compensation (OWCP), health and safety, and numerous other issues. We are comprised of over 700 members assigned to the Big Bend Border Patrol Sector.
The executive board is comprised of seven dedicated members, who are nominated and elected by our membership for two-year terms. Our current board oversees the stations and other duty locations throughout the Big Bend Border Patrol Sector with the help of many hard-working and dedicated union representatives.
We have a commitment to our members to provide representation to the best of our abilities. We also provide legal representation for administrative and criminal issues that occur within the course and scope of employment via the NBPC Legal Service Plan (LSP) and PORAC Legal Defense Fund (LDF).
